Dr. Higgins is Board Certified in General Surgery and is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Columbia Hospital. He is also a past President of the Palm Beach County Medical Society.

The Frist Humanitarian Awards recognize one employee, one volunteer, and one physician at each HCA-affiliated facility who demonstrate extraordinary concern for the welfare and happiness of patients and their community. The Frist Humanitarian Awards are given annually in recognition of the humanitarian spirit and philanthropic work of the late Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Sr., a founder of HCA.

James Franken has been appointed Director of Education at Columbia Hospital. Prior to joining Columbia he was Director of Education at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, Florida. He also served in the same capacity at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas, both HCA facilities.

Columbia Hospital Goes 100% Tobacco-Free

On June 1, Columbia Hospital went totally tobacco-free – inside and out. Patients, visitors, and Columbia Hospital team members (employees, volunteers, medical staff, vendors and affiliates) must refrain from using tobacco products on all Columbia Hospital-owned property, including outdoor areas and all facilities that house programs of the hospital.
